Summertime , especially here in South Florida, can prove to be challenging when it comes to safely exercising & enriching our dogs lives! I know having this dog treadmill is a huge privilege & I am not here to pressure anyone into investing in something they may have never considered before. Instead I would love to share some ideas on mental activities that we can safely do inside the house when the weather is unsafe! 👉🏼”find it games” where we hide a toy or treat that our dogs really enjoy and encourage them to search the house for it! Start off easy by hiding the item in a nearby room in an easy spot & throw a big happy party when they find it! Remember to reward them! Then increase hardness as they understand the game. 👉🏼 instead of just feeding from their bowl, work with them on some obedience cues by using bits of their meal as a reward! Or maybe work on a trick you have been meaning to teach ✴️The 2 above options will only cost you in time. I will also share a couple of options that will take a little investment & some may require planning ahead of time! 👉🏼snuffle mats are a fun way for your dog to use its nose and “hunt” for their food 👉🏼lick mats, topples, puzzles are another fun way to give your dog an activity that will aid in expending some energy 👉🏼kong wobbler is a toy you fill with your dogs kibble and they have to bump it around to collect their reward. Careful with this one because theh may get excited and kick it all around your house 😂 These are just a few ideas to help get your dog through hot summer days, safely, when it is tough to be outside for too long! Please remember that all activities I mention need to be supervised.
