Khara is completely blind, but I will always find creative ways to help her “see” the world around her. Raising a child with blindness comes with its challenges, especially when it comes to finding accessible gifts and ensuring she feels included in every experience. I have to think outside the box! This year, I connected with the amazing artist @Nicole 👋Ladywoodgoods , who has a true gift for creating tactile portraits that people who are blind or visually impaired can “see” with their hands. Nicole created a beautiful portrait of Khara and our beloved fur baby, Sasha, whom we said goodbye to last year. I wasn’t sure how Khara would react when she opened this special gift, but it brought us both to tears. The detail she could feel was incredible, and it allowed us to remember Sasha in such a meaningful way. I truly wish there were more accessible gifts and tactile items, including Braille, for those living with blindness or visual impairments. I’m so grateful for artists like Nicole who use their talents to create unique and inclusive pieces for people with disabilities. Thanks to her, this Christmas became extra special for Khara. ❤️🎁 #BlindAwareness #disabilityinclusion #disabilitytiktok #septoopticdysplasia #blind #DisabilityAwareness #specialneedsparenting #fyp #fypage Video description: a girl is sitting at a table with a large gift wrapped in brown paper and red/black plaid ribbon, then she unwraps a beautiful wooden tactile portrait of Khara and her dog Sasha. Khara has long black wavy hair and she is wearing a purple dress with a butterfly necklace. Her white cane is held in her right hand. Sasha is a small brown and gold Yorkie, wearing a collar with a white flower and her pink tongue hanging out of her mouth. Khara feels the tactile portrait with her hands. She covers her eyes with her right arm. The next frame scans the portrait
