Some patients are in alot of pain and ARE NOT in labor so pain is not always a good indicator for active labor…. 😒

I made my nurses wait every 4-5 hours for cervical checks for my second birth. my first birth they wanted to check every hour and I was like... no.

I will absolutely be declining a cervical check in the triage room. With my youngest the ER doctor had horrible bedside manner and actually hurt me!

I had a c-section (breech) but even with anxiety attacks from ptsd they told me they would refuse to admit me if i didn’t consent to cervical checks.

they did one in triage n compared it to my apt I had earlier that day, admitted me, got my epi and slept didn't check till 10 hers later then bout

I told my doctor just shy of 25 weeks that I thought my water had broken. she sent me the labor and delivery. they did a test, didn't find any fluid

That's not accurate... some women will present, contractions every 7minutes apart but not be in active labor. Cervical dilation is better indicator.

Wait you can avoid the check?!!! I had a nurse watch me get 2 contractions within 5 mins and she still made me undress to check me. It was so hard 😭
