❌🫡 Things I Wish I Knew Before Trekking Mount Batur in Bali ⛰️ 📌Save this post for your next Bali Trip! 🥾 Dress like an onion – It’s colder when you start at 2am, but you’ll be sweating as the sun is out. Layers are your best friend 👟 No flip flops & High heels. Seriously. I saw people hiking in them 😳 Stick with sport shoes at minimum – it gets rocky 🪜 Too tired to go on? There are motorcycles that’ll take you up/down for ~200-300k IDR. Lifesaver for some 🎒 Pack light. You’ll get water + breakfast. Snacks are sold on the way too. Less is more 📍 View tip: Hiking gives a better view than going up with a jeep – and a bigger sense of accomplishment too! 🦅 Drone regrets. I left mine at home 😭 but you can bring it. Just beware of wind, eagles and other drones 🌤️ Check your weather app. Dry season = ~90% chance of sunrise views. Rainy season = only ~40% Go on a clear day! 💸 Don’t overpay. We paid 300k instead of 550k by booking from a tour booth on Ubud’s Goutama Street. Ask around! 🛏️ 2AM pickup = ruined sleep. Go to bed early and expect your rhythm to be off for a bit 😅 💪 Beginner-friendly. I was afraid it would be tough, but even me as a non hiker + scared of heights could make it. There was a very good path, with some rocky parts, but overall an easy trek and sooo worth it 🦯 Walking sticks help. Especially on the descent – less slipping, more balance 💡 Base yourself in Ubud. It’s much closer to Kintamani = less time in the car 🚗 Make a day of it: After the sunrise, we asked the driver to drop us at a coffee shop in Kintamani, took a Gojek to Pura Segara Ulun Danu Batur, and even squeezed in Tegalalang. Epic day 😎 Master Move: Get a massage afterward. Zero muscle pain the next day 👌 ✨ Was it worth it? 100%. Cold, sweaty, 2AM chaos… but standing above the clouds watching the sunrise?
