Since June 2022, abortion access has been banned or severely restricted across much of the United States, and the consequences have extended far beyond politics. The CDC reports that more than 80% of pregnancy-related deaths in the United States are preventable. In other words, thousands of families have lost mothers to causes that experts believe could have been avoided with timely, appropriate medical care. Wade, saying he was “proud” to have appointed the Supreme Court justices who helped end the federal constitutional right to abortion.
