So far we have seen some small improvements which we are thankful for. Hudson received a shot yesterday to help his WBC and ANC level increase. We need these to improve to fight off whatever infection he may have and to have chemo again on Friday. We saw a slight increase today and are glad for that. We have found a medication routine that has improved his vomiting. He still has this cough from the mucositis which is caused from the sores in his mouth and GI tract, but the cough is improving. Once those WBC and ANC levels increase we should see healing of the ulcers and improvement in the cough. He continues to spike fevers. They are looking at possibly changing his antibiotics again. All of his blood cultures and swabs have been negative which is a good thing. If he continues to have fevers with no obvious source they will rescan his abdomen to make sure they are not missing anything. Hudson has a port that is accessed by a needle when he is admitted. These needles have to be replaced every 7 days. So this will happen today. This causes him anxiety but it also means we can sneak in a quick bath. We are continuing to work on the tube feeding and replacing some electrolytes that are common to lose with chemo. All in all we are just trying to keep him comfortable and his anxiety at bay. His hair has started falling out. I knew this was coming and this is the part I was looking forward to the least. This is when he will look like he has cancer. It’s falling out pretty steady today so we have asked to have his head buzzed. Waiting to see if someone is available. This will be hard. I am thankful for the bath today to wash and brush his sweet hair before we wait for it to grow back. Thank you for praying for us. More to come.
