Wrong you can use the dab technique on walls just has to have 95% coverage so you do more dabs closer together so then they join you can’t notch walls

you just have to apply the mortar to the whole back of the tile just a skim coat.

if you do natural travertine, its all different thicknesses. its the only way as far as I know

thinset & backbutter tile.. press firmly in, and set tile height. wipe edge for next tile.. I imagine wall tiling this would be fine..
