🚨BREAKING: The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), under Administrator Kelly Loeffler, has suspended 27,486 borrowers in Ohio connected to approximately $1.1 billion in suspected fraudulent Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and COVID Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) activity. The action, announced during a press conference in Ohio in coordination with the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, represents the latest in a series of aggressive enforcement measures targeting pandemic relief fraud. This follows similar suspensions in California, Minnesota, and Maine involving 140,000 borrowers and approximately $9 billion in suspected fraud. “The Trump Administration delivered a clear message in Ohio today: if you defraud federal programs at any level, we will find you, and work with law enforcement to hold you accountable,” Administrator Loeffler stated. She emphasized the Task Force’s role, led by Vice President JD Vance, in advancing accountability where previous administrations allegedly failed to act. The Ohio announcement aligns with the SBA’s earlier referral of 562,000 suspected fraudulent loans totaling $22.2 billion to the U.S. Department of the Treasury for collections and to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for potential prosecution. These loans were flagged for fraud during the prior administration but were not previously referred for recovery or investigation. Assistant Attorney General Colin McDonald reinforced the commitment to enforcement, stating: “The war against fraud has come to Ohio, and we plan to leave no doubt as to who will win. That will be the team behind me, federal and state partners who have come together as one to battle the fraud crisis that has crippled our taxpayer-funded programs and robbed the American purse for too long.” The Ohio actions also included federal charges against four individuals allegedly involved in a PPP fraud scheme that netted more than $1.4 million.
