✨ Who says fine dining has to mean steak? We spent the evening at Popular in Encino for a date night with friends, and I can confidently say this was one of the nicest dining experiences we’ve had in a long time! 🍷 When you think of an upscale restaurant for an anniversary, birthday, or special date night, a dairy restaurant might not be the first thing that comes to mind. Popular completely changed that for me. From the beautiful presentation to the warm, attentive service, everything exceeded our expectations. What impressed me most was just how much thought and care went into every single dish. Nothing felt like an afterthought. Every ingredient, flavor combination, and finishing touch was so intentional, and absolutely everything we tasted was incredible. Not a single detail was spared, from the creativity behind each dish to the way it arrived at our table. So many of the flavors reminded me of the incredible fine dining experiences we’ve had in Israel. Fresh fish, creative vegetables, beautifully executed pastas, and dishes that felt both exciting and thoughtfully put together. It was the kind of meal where you genuinely appreciate the artistry behind the food. We also dined with a friend who is gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free, and the team went above and beyond to make sure she could enjoy this incredible evening right alongside us. A few of the dishes you see might look a little different from their usual presentation because the kitchen thoughtfully adjusted them to accommodate her dietary restrictions. She said it was one of the best meals she’d had in a long time, which made the experience even better! ❤️ Here’s everything we tried: 🥖 To start • Moroccan Frena • Hummus Msabbaha • Branzino Tacos • White Sweet Potato • King Oyster Mushroom • Wild Cabbage Skewer 🍣 Sushi • Chilean Seabass Tempura Roll • Bluefin Crispy Rice 🍝 Mains • Whole Branzino • Grilled Chilean Sea Bass • Wild Mushroom Gnocchi • Cheese Tortellini 🍸 Cocktails • Negroni Noir • Mango Kiss • Tropit 🍰 Dessert • Knafeh • Crumble Cheesecake • Sorbet And can we talk about that knafeh?! 😍 It’s so hard to find really good knafeh outside of Israel, and this one was absolutely incredible. Every dessert was phenomenal and the perfect ending to an already unforgettable meal. The entire evening felt like a special occasion, from the food and atmosphere to the genuine warmth and hospitality. You can tell that so much care has gone into creating the entire dining experience, not just the menu. Popular is absolutely worth getting a babysitter and making the drive to the Valley.
