I just looked it up & watched the 1st episode of the OG pokemon show, no black tail. and I don't recall it ever being like that.

there was an episode where pikachu met another pikachu with a pika the pika had a black tail the other pikachu evolve. also there is a blond pikachu

There was another pikachu in an episode that had a black tail. Ashes pikachu never had one.
