The parenthesis is done. there is no debate on this. Its now multiply. Literally no one in the professional math world would interpret it otherwise.

the reason why the ( ) don't come 1st is because the 2 is not separated from the division by a 2nd set of parentheses, so left to right is the rule

It's only 9, that's how it works, you can check any type of calculator that has pemdas included in them and it knows which calculations to do first

Because it is written left to right and not vertically, the 2 would have to be in a parentheses for it to be interpreted as the 6 being over the 2(1+2

if you want it to evaluate to 1 then the correct symbol is ÷ instead of /. as it stands it's 9.
