today’s studies in a really messy desk 🤯 here is how my desk looks while i am reading and writing, plus a flip through of the books i’m currently reading and obviously of my moleskine expanded journal 🫶🏼 lately i have been exploring a lot of different topics in different books, and i have been reflecting and meditating upon them in my journal… my brain is on fire 🔥 it is so warm outside, the heat is unbearable, so what’s better than relaxing at home with some books? for reference. i have been focusing on these themes and books: • Russia: Napoleon in Russia (historical book by Lieven) and War and peace by Tolstoj • morning meditation on different themes: Pessoa Book of disquiet • free reading: the theme of journey and personal growth in Shantaram by David Gregory Roberts what are you currently reading/ studying/ listening/ writing/ meditating…? share 👇🏼 #journal #study #darkacademia #StudyTips #studyinspo
America's military has produced a staggering variety of embroidered cloth insignia over the past century, and almost none of it was designed with a collector in mind. Unit patches, rank chevrons, service stripes, name tapes, division crests, and branch insignia were made to be sewn on a uniform and forgotten, which is exactly what makes tracking them down interesting. These patches span roughly from the Korean War era through the early 2000s, with the bulk coming from Vietnam-era and Desert Storm production. What arrives could be a shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) from any Army division; the 1st Infantry, 82nd Airborne, 101st, 4th Infantry, or any of dozens of others. It might be Navy rating badges, Air Force specialty insignia, collar tabs, a service stripe, or a name tape from a soldier's dress uniform. Occasionally the lot includes civilian crossover pieces: Boy Scout merit badges, JROTC shoulder patches, or vintage American flag patches. Patch collecting is one of the deeper rabbit holes in military surplus. Many insignia were produced in small runs for specific units or short deployments, making certain examples genuinely scarce finds. You may receive something common. You may receive something excellent. That uncertainty is the whole point. Construction is standard US military specification: embroidered twill base with a merrowed (overlock-stitched) edge. Most are iron-on or sew-on compatible.
