A dirty filter will cause the motor to use less amps although to get the job done the system will have to run longer thus using more watt hours.

well what I have noticed, on a dirty filter the Amp dry on the evap motor is less, with the reduced airflow to the motor.

psc motor draws less amps but never turns off. putting strain on the compressor both motors and the capacitors. if it's bad enough you can even ice up

I always tell my customer's to change their filters 3 to 4 times a yr. The cost of the filters will be cheaper than me having to do repairs.
