Firefighter here… We are taught try before you pry. As in, try the handle before we force the door. It saves a bunch of time.

My experience? Fire fighters went through 100 year old mahogany doors throughout the entire apartment building. That’s what insurance is for.

honestly. I know it suck. but when there is evidence of a fire, they aren't going to wait for someone to answer the door. they may try the handle 1/2
