if you can’t tolerate the feeling of the numbing cream, you can also use freeze/cold spray or an ice pack for a different feeling

One time I had to get a blood test and I fainted when they put numbing cream on the area because even the sensation of touch there was too much

I found the arm so much less painful, they also tend to be easier to find veins in so less of chance of them going in again. just my personal opinion,

write the alphabet with the toe of your shoe opposite the arm they’re poking, it helps distract and keep you from tensing up!! good luck!

also if you do your hands wear gloves once you have put the cream on as it will help the veins be better for the doc

Refused any bloodwork for over 5 years but once I was pregnant I had no choice 🥲 Had an iv in 2x a week +bloodwork 1x a week 🥴

a little tip, if they can ask them to give u ur iv in ur hand it is my GB more pleasant, in personal experience 🥰

I have to have Ivs a lot and prefer the hand. You don’t have to worry about bending your arm/can use hands. Good luck!
