I got called out. Again. When I get called out, sometimes I think it is good to respond publicly. Why? Because if they are right and I need to issue a correction, that benefits you. And if I don’t think they are right and I don’t need to issue a correction, maybe you can benefit from seeing the discussion. To understand this, here’s what you need to know: Most people assume body fat is a huge health problem. If someone has more body fat, we *immediately* know they are less healthy. I disagree with this premise, because there are many other factors that can influence your health (fitness, smoking, genetics, diet, sleep, yada yada). I discuss these a lot, because I really hate how society talks about body fat. I hate how personal trainers often make it sound like if you have more body fat, you are *immediately* less healthy than someone who has less body fat because we know that this isn’t *always* the case. I hate fat shaming. I hate weight discrimination. I discuss these a lot. However, some people go even further than this and they hate admitting that body fat has *any* impact on your health at all. And because I am a thin white guy who talks about fat loss, I need to be called out for showing you what the research says. That’s basically the vibe.
