It’s not really like a bet. A bet with a 0% chance to pay out costs your stake. Efficacy is a percentage change in probabilities.

I find it counterintuitive that the total population efficacy is significantly lower than either 50. It feels like it should be an average.

isn't it a 50% likelihood of having two girls if we know at least one is a girl? known(girl)*p(g) +p(g) * known(girl)= .5*.5+.5*.5=.5
