It depends on what you got kicked out for. If you got hurt and medically discharged, that would be the only exception.

I did basic and AIT and 3 months later got deployed and got injured in Iraq and now 100 disabled vet , out in less than a year

To be a Veteran you have to serve 180 continuous days of active duty after completing your Basic and AIT training.
