That’s not true….. NPT is a non pressure sealing thread. There’s a gap between the root and crest. Read the ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 standard.

Deeper seat? The threads are the size they are. The tape doesn’t change that, but it can plug any gaps within the threads.

Masters (manufacturer of pipe dope and Teflon tape) specifically states its a sealant and lubricant. Try fitting a gas line or boiler system without!

Put 3 to 4 wraps max on threads the direction shown in the video. Brass on brass they say don’t need it, but if tighten to much, can’t get back apart
