This adhesive backing works as well as thinset, maybe better - no cracking. 10 yrs later, our tile looks as good as the day we put it up. CLEAN!

Nothing wrong with what you did, but a magnet will find the fasteners in the drywall way cheaper than a stud finder. Great work!

Looks great. My biggest concern would be near the oven/stove. Constant heat could eventually break down the adhesives on both the tile side and paper

I would imagine that adhesive stuff is more expensive than thin set. For me, I’ll stick to thin set. This looks awesome 👏🏽

Alway go a row or two below the countertop behind a stove. You'll catch a view of the bottom edge while standing next to it and it looks amateur
