I can’t understand how the world keeps going People go to work Take their kids to sports Check out a new cafe Take vacations While my world has stopped. I never truly understood what people meant when they said the world keeps going, but you’re stops, until I experienced it, I can tell you that it’s nothing like what you’d expect. It’s 1000x worse It feels like you’re stuck in a time warp. The days go by in slow motion, but all of the sudden it’s been a week. My life ended that day, right along with them. Everything I’ve known, the people who raised me, the future I expected, and my day to day. My entire being has changed. And I realized what the posts mean when they say “the person you were before and the new person you become after” I want to scream at the top of my lungs and shake people until they understand that life is short, stop focusing on silly things, and focus on the people who matter most. Who cares about the traffic, the slow drive thru, the dog barking down the street. My parents are dead and they’re not coming back. I don’t care about making money. Watching my parents work so hard to build a life they love, saving for an early retirement, and paying off debts.. just to be gone without getting to enjoy it all. I see people differently now too. The ones who truly care about us and our family, who might not know us well or haven’t spoke in years, but have shown up, checked in, texted, made us meals, sent flowers, cards, or a virtual hug. I know I didn’t show up for people in the past who were grieving, because I truly had no idea how to. What to say. How to help. Even understanding the magnitude of pain they were in, but didn’t show it. I don’t carry any anger or resentment, I get it. And maybe part of this grief journey is learning how to show up for the next person who goes through too. I really don’t know what’s next. But what I do know is that my life will never be the same and accepting that the world keeps spinning for everyon
