The switch for the bowl is for different size bowls I think. I had one long ago that did this.

My mom had that mixer when we were kids. I don't remember the head coming off. Guess I got a reason to visit now. 👍🏻🦆🦆🦆

I loved my mix master because it came off the stand. Great for mashed potatoes. I miss it. Kitchen aid has its good points too but I still miss it
