This word exist and it’s derived from the Old English verb “acsian”. aks was the normal form in Wessex dialect of English

I’m from Chile, I learnt English as a second language and I’ve heard people saying aks. I worked with Jamaican people in the states.

I've heard it a lot that african american ppl saying like that. I thought all ethnic has accent when they speak in english. So 'aks' is their thing.
