if you are running a long distance (above 50ft) I'd recommend 12g or 10g if you really far so the voltage drop doesn't prevent you from running tools

Have you ever checked the awg of the cord on your family’s clothes iron or for that matter the waffle iron or the toaster? 💁

Any recommendations for cords that are not stiff outside below zero?

This isnt how electrical theory works. A 16 gauge extension cord will definitely run your tools.

even though it's a 14 gauge wire I would not run more than 1000 W off of it the female end is always the weakest link

I only use 12/2 for any power tools and have 10/2 for any significant length. They de-rate when longer.

14ga? Never would I ever use anything smaller than 12ga for wiring or an extension cord.

A 25-foot 16-awg cord will run all my powe tools. Obviously no all at the same time. 💁

Cheap, even 100' fine for lights. But agree aboit the power tools. Many people think since the tool runs with 16gauge it's fine - not so. 🥺

Depends on the length of the cord. 10/3 is lossless at 100 ft. Everything else will drop off.
