I go by recipes. When it says unsalted I use unsalted, when it doesn’t specify I use salted.

I usually buy salted and just omit the salt from recipes or really cut down on the recommended amount.

I always buy salted only 🤷♀️if I had to use unsalted (even if called for in recipe) I'd prob have to add an extra pinch of salt 😂

New Zealand butter isn’t heavily salted and is a constant amount, I normally use salted but adjust the amount of salt added later
