6 volts never turn over fast get a 12 v set of points an alternator and a 12 bot coil then a 12v battery then it will turn over fast and crank easy

Put some marvel mystery oil in the cylinders or the spark plugs are cleaning up the stripper cap in points and then try it with a little gas

if I herd you say the ground was to the frame , run from that ground on the frame to the engine , it sounds like your loosing cranking voltage ,
