as long as you only use it as a way to get closer to more renewable energy. NE becomes a problem once people fully rely on it

this is so important!!! “progressives” who say they’re anti-nuclear don’t actually care about climate change

Wouldn't a catastrophic nuclear accident be way worse than a catastrophic windmill accident? 3 Mile Island, Chernobyl, Fukushima? TY for ur content!

Most of this is very true! But the problem isn't the waste itself, but the unequal distribution of that waste and of nuclear facilities

let me stop you right there. nuclear wastes gets stored in INDIGENOUS LANDS! and they aren't that managed well. where do you get your info from?

Nuclear needs to be part of green energy future but it can’t be built fast enough to turn around our carbon problem

Thank you! NE is so misunderstood and it’s a really great alternative for consistent energy generation ❤️

This is so spot on. Thanks so much for talking to the experts! so many science communicators won't take their time to do this.

Isn't nuclear energy extremely expensive in comparison to solar, wind etc. ?

I'm for it. Visited a small nuclear energy plant at Ohio State University.

The problem is that if nuclear relaxes fossil fuels those big corporations would lose money oh no! 😢 capitalism

I wonder if it was a mostly older younger split towards nuclear. as older gen will have been exposed to the disaster media of like Chernobyl

Fukushima meltdown led to 1 dead person. Death rate is not a good data analysis. Look at unusable land surface after an incident (Tsjernobyl, …)

well hopefully we can prove the theory of breeder reactors and then they would be renewable and fully sustainable

Even now we have a problem with save storing of nuclear waste - it’s not a long term solution as long as it stays like this

and the way that nuclear doesn't have to be an end point but rather a transitional period between fossil to renewable.

It needs to be a heck of a lot cheaper before it can replace the value of renewables in more remote areas though

I think diversifying is the best option. A healthy portion of nuclear, solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal would be nice.

anyone else see the Bill Gates documentary on netflix where they talked about a nuclear technology that actually uses up old nuclear waste?

Love this! People hear “nuclear” and crap their pants, but it’s really one of our best tools vs climate change.

I want so badly for there to be more research into reusing nuclear waste. I've been thinking about it literally since I was a child.

Okay ignoring any and ALL of these issues, nuclear still is bad because it is BY FAR the most expensive energy producer

@onlinekyne I'm under the impression that nuclear energy related accidents are less frequent but can be way worse. Is that accurate?
