Also, when packing in the box. Wrap the stack in bubble wrap and place in the box on their side, not flat. Less breakage if box is mishandled.

I worked for an antique dealer, he just stacked all the plates and cushioned all around when he had exhibitions. never saw one broken.

Wrap them with your dish towels and always load plates and bowls on there edge. They are stronger that way.
