What tools do you *ACTUALLY* need to build cabinets? It’s probably fewer (and less expensive!) than you think. Here are the 7 must have tools I recommend to build basic cabinets and furniture. PLUS at the end, I’ll share a bonus tool to make installation easier: 1. Circular Saw 2. Kreg Rip Cut 3. Kreg Accu-Cut 4. Drill/Driver 5. Kreg Pocket Hole Jig 6. Kreg Shelf Pin Jig 7. Kreg Concealed Hinge Jig Tools For Cutting A circular saw and the Rip Cut and Accu-Cut guides makes cutting down large, heavy plywood sheets quick, easy and accurate. No need to wrestle an 80 lb sheet through an expensive table saw. Tools For Assembly Pocket holes are a simple joinery method that works great for basic cabinet construction. All you need is a pocket hole jig and a drill! The Kreg 720 is my go to jig, but the Micro is a great little addition that’s helpful when assembling thin and narrow boards like for face frames. Tools for Adding Shelves Adding adjustable shelves to your cabinets and furniture is easy with a shelf pin jig. Simply drill the holes, place in the shelf pins, and rest your shelf on top. Tools for Adding Doors The concealed hinge jig helps you drill out the cup holes in your cabinet doors for quick, easy, and clean hinge installation. Tools for Installation After your cabinets are built, they need to be secured to the wall studs. This Magnetic Stud Finder is my new favorite because it’s so simple and doesn’t require any batteries. Simply swipe it along the wall until it “sticks” and you’ve found your stud! For more information, head to woodshopdiaries.com for a detailed guide to break these down and show you how to use them. #diywoodworking #kregjig #cabinetbuilding
