I did not state that these are the CHEAPEST destinations for South African travellers. Unfortunately, the rand itself is weak and travelling in general is expensive, even to a third world country because flights are priced on duration and distance so you’ll pay a lot based on where our country is geographically. However, this post is for travellers who want a more affordable holiday compared to places where the rand is very weak, like European countries. In countries using the euro, pound or dollar, your rands won’t go far and food will be very expensive! For example, R20k is about 900 pounds which goes quickly but R20k can give you 115k rupees and with a lower cost of living in india, your money will go MUCH further! However, these first world countries have excellent public transport so transport is cheaper (using the bus and metro) even high speed trains are generally cheaper than flights. A 3 star hotel in those countries would be suitable but you might opt for 5 star in India for example, then your accommodation would be more. Everything is relative and comes down to the kind of traveller you are.
