Kishou Arima is one of the most important characters in the Tokyo Ghoul manga and the legendary strongest investigator of the CCG. Known as the Reaper, Arima built a terrifying reputation through countless victories against powerful ghouls. After Kaneki loses his memories, he becomes Haise Sasaki, a CCG investigator and leader of the Quinx Squad. Arima becomes one of the most important people in Haise's new life and serves as his mentor. As the story progresses, the truth behind Arima's position within the CCG is revealed. He is not simply an investigator dedicated to eliminating ghouls. Arima is connected to a secret plan intended to overthrow the existing system and create the possibility of a new world where humans and ghouls can coexist. Arima was a member of the Sunlit Garden and was a half-human, which gave him extraordinary physical abilities but also resulted in a shortened lifespan. His limited time was one of the reasons he accepted the role he had been given and eventually prepared for his own death. Arima also shares a crucial connection with Eto Yoshimura. Although they publicly stand on different sides of the conflict, they cooperate toward the same larger goal: changing the world and breaking the system controlled by the Washuu family and V. His final battle with Kaneki in Tokyo Ghoul:re is one of the manga's most important moments. Their confrontation is no longer simply a battle between an investigator and a ghoul. Arima understands that Kaneki must become the person capable of carrying their hopes into the future. After losing his ability to continue fighting effectively, Arima chooses to end his own life rather than allow Kaneki to kill him. Before his death, he entrusts the future to Kaneki.
