I think one form entry makes a huge difference too. Locally to us, most schools are one form entry or less and that makes much more work.

We mark live in the lesson, I work through lunch + working through 3.30-4.30 rather than chatting- big difference!

Thank you! I wish my school would have that marking policy. Each child has 16 books, so it’s a lot of marking.

My placement expect same day marking& intervention!! So marking 70 books by end of that day🥲 on top of everything else. No schemes or shared plans!x

I completely understand your way of working, but you should try and have a break and lunch at least a couple of times a week. It helps to switch off.

I’m the same as you! In my 5th year of teaching work 7.30-4.30 each day and take nothing home with me! It’s doable and I need a life! 🥂
