When i started my niqab journey I remember how eager i was to start m, i was so inspired and influenced by so many beautiful women around me, friends, cousins, scholars you name it. I picked it up during a very tough time in my life. My iman was blazing at the time Alhamdulillah. I embraced it for a while. Down the line i started to experience trials and test with the niqab. This included me being chased downtown manhattan by a YT man using racial slurs 🤦🏾‍♀️. But I continued to pull through. Shortly after I experienced another loss in my family someone so dear to me. I still held on, but as time woukd prove it. And the grief took over my iman started to dwindle i eventually started to feel detached from my niqab, the niqab no longer felt apart of me. It felt more as i was hiding behind the veil. I felt confused and disconnected, i felt dishonest… I slowly started to shy away from it. Until eventually i dropped it. This took a toll on my mental for a while. But Alhamdulillah i thank Allah that He allowed me to experience it during the most trying time of my life. I hope someday my heart is called back to it. By the will of Allah… If you ever started your niqab journey and fell off im here to tell you that its okay. Life is a journey.
