i wish I didn't feel everything so deeply
Everyday up until this point has taken so much hard work and patience and love. In my own personal experience, the birth of my baby was so sudden, so out of my control, that I didn’t feel an overwhelming bond with her in the first few days. All I knew was that she was a special part of me that I wanted to protect and care for. It took some time for my connection with her to form. It is taking even longer for the connection with my new self to be established. The postpartum fog has slowly been lifting and I’ve now grown so much love for her that it feels like my body cannot contain it. Every time she smiles I want to engrave the sight of her gummy smile into my memory forever. When she cries after a nightmare I want to hold her for hours to make her feel safe. I wonder every time I look at her what is going on in her blossoming brain. Right now, each day is filled with a very demanding routine. Feedings, clean diapers, tummy time, naps at any time of day, pumping, and trying to find a window of time to take care of my own basic needs. I don’t know how I am operating off of such weird sleep intervals at this point. I will say that it is completely worth it to be in this little bubble of love we have right now 🫧
