If you’re a divorced former tradwife, there’s a good chance you’re undervaluing the skills you bring to your business. Why? Because you may have spent decades doing them for free. Cooking. Cleaning. Organizing. Childcare. Teaching. Managing a household. Planning. Coordinating. Caring for other people. When you’ve never been paid for something, it can be surprisingly difficult to believe it’s worth paying for. So here’s something I’m experimenting with: Quote higher than you think you’re worth. If you think your time is worth $20/hour, try quoting $30 or $40. If you think a project is worth $500, consider quoting $700. Then watch what happens. When people happily pay your price, you’re giving your brain new evidence: People see value in what I do. And there’s an interesting side effect to undercharging: Sometimes being too cheap can actually make people question the value of your service. This doesn’t mean you should charge whatever you want regardless of the market. If you’re consistently getting feedback that your pricing is too high or you’re dramatically above comparable providers in your area, that’s useful information. But if you’re just starting out and your instinct is to make yourself cheap because you’re afraid nobody will pay you? That’s worth examining. You may not have a pricing problem. You may have a “I’ve never been paid for my skills before” problem. And those are two very different things. #StartOverStrategy #DivorcedFormerTradwife #WomenAndMoney #ServiceBasedBusiness #WomenBuildingBusinesses
