Ford Transit - Front Brake Disc and Pad Replacement. Why Is It So Complicated? • Today, I’m working on a Ford Transit, replacing the front brake discs and brake pads. It sounds like a straightforward maintenance job, but the design of the front braking system on this vehicle makes the procedure considerably more involved. • The main challenge is that the brake discs are mounted behind the wheel hub. To remove the old discs and install the replacements, I first have to remove the wheel bearing housing, which is bolted directly to the steering knuckle. • This is where things can get difficult. The wheel bearing housing can become seized in the steering knuckle, and the retaining bolts may be difficult to undo. As a result, what sounds like a simple brake replacement can turn into a time-consuming job requiring the right tools, care and a proper removal procedure. • In this video, I demonstrate the complete front brake service on the Ford Transit, including removing the necessary components, taking off the brake discs, replacing the brake pads and reinstalling the parts.
