For UK ppl, guidance also allows a cellular blanket tightly tucked under the arms and all sides of the mattress w/ baby's feet at the foot of the cot

I introduced mine to a blanket between 4-6 months under supervision and he his 8 months now and hasn't had a problem. you just have to keep and eye on

my 20 month old still only uses a sleep sack! I see no reason for a blanket. We have used safe sleep since day one.
