Did I misspell skis? Yes, but I’d argue that my misspelling still works because 1. You will still pronounce “skies” as “skis” when reading it in this context, despite the fact that it’s a misspelling, which emphasizes my point, and 2. skied/skied could’ve also worked in that example, demonstrating that same type of heteronym does exist elsewhere in English. I would like to pretend that the mispelling was intentional to emphasize that your brain will base pronunciation not from spelling, but from context. The point of repetition is to build muscle memory and create neurological connections. 🤯 With repetition it’s like starting over again and again. 🔄 That’s frustrating. No one wants that. ❌ Put in those reps early and build the foundation! 🧱
