Today, my mom and I were having a conversation when, out of the blue, she said, “I’m scared of turning 50. I wish I could go back in time.” Something in my heart broke a little when I heard that, and I found myself replying, “Mom, everyone’s scared of growing older. I feel it too. If I could, I’d stay 5 years old forever.”☹️ A silence fell between us, and in that moment, I thought to myself: Mom, you’re not even done with your 40s yet. Why are you so worried about turning 50? What do you think will change? You’re still the same person you were 4 years ago. But she was right , im scared too … “Everything changes.” It’s true. But isn’t it also strange how we’re constantly anxious about the ages ahead of us? We worry so much about the future, about getting older, but we rarely stop to appreciate the age we are right now. We always say things like, “I have to grow up” or “I’m getting older,” but why don’t we ever say, “Today, I’m just me, right here, at this age”? Why don’t we allow ourselves to live in the present, even when life is rushing us forward?🙁 It’s easy to say these things, I know. But I really hope we can learn to embrace the age we are today, and even the ages we’ve been before. 💗We don’t have to erase who we were; that part of us still lives inside. The little kid I once was? She’s still here!!!I still feel 5 years old in my heart sometimes. Even though I’m an adult now, I’ve realized that life keeps moving, even if we stand still. I’m still that kid, just growing up. And growing doesn’t mean leaving the child I once was behind; it means embracing her. Aren’t we all “kidults” in a way? We forget to be the age we are because we’re too focused on the age we’re going to become. Growing up is bittersweet, and honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever get used to it. There’s a sadness in it. I’m scared of forgetting the past, scared that there won’t be enough time to remember it all. My childhood feels like it’s slipping away, and I wish I could hold onto it longer. I need more time oh my God. Let us be young without worries , let us be young and live and just be.💐 #seventeen #goingseventeen #fyp
