I tried that method and all it did was suffocate my plants. Switched to better soil and started bottom watering, no more gnats!

the best way is to not water from the top of the soil. place plant in water and absorb from drain holes

new to gardening here I use a cap of apple cider vinegar in my spray bottle and lightly apply on the soil. the gnats in heaven now 😏

DE and sticky traps that you stick into the potting soil. I found cute ones shaped like butterflies on Amazon. Gnats were gone in a week.

Sticky traps and spray them directly with isopropyl alcohol. Isopropyl kills them on contact, but only spray them when you see them on soil not foliag

just cover the top with foam soap every second day for 2 weeks. stay consistent so you get the eggs that hatch.

I've literally tried everything and the best I've found is 1tbsp neem oil 1tbsp dish soap and mosquito bits in warm water until cooled then on 😁
