I thought if it has a gasket it doesn't have npt threads. so Teflon tape would do nothing because threads arent meant to seal on that???

As a gas fitter it’s used on gas pipes and hot water pipes to stop leaks but u have to put the tape on a certain way so that when screwing something

you dont need tape on that joint, just the joint in the wall, that joint is ment to seal on the flat washer...

it lubricates and prevents slipping off the threads, lots of vibration in shower heads and they get loose and start leaking

I use Teflon as a barrier. It help when you have hard water and calcium deposits bonding everything together.

we use liquid Teflon instead of tape. works good for dealing with air leaks. idk about water tho
