That type of hood isn’t meant to be concealed. Why didn’t you just build a much smaller box off the ceiling, just enough to cover the exposed duct?

You and grease will not be friends in a year from now…We got a Viking and grease gets even up to the chimney portion. You kitchen looks very nice!
