My only minor criticism is that you shouldn't rinse that stuff down the drain. You could cause a blockage.

You’re supposed to prime the exposed brown paper. Helps the mud stick to it. I use killz spray prime for spors like that.

Awesome way to patch the hole but I dont like mesh tape when you mud over mesh tape the mud doesn’t fill the gap in completely causing cracks in time

Try using two pieces of the metal or timber and putting them on each side half exposed by the sheet it will help stop cracking

As a plumber you shouldn’t show people to wash down down the sink. It will get hard in the drain line rinse in yard drain bigger pipe easier to snake

*To prevent cracks, put some "peanut butter" under that tape as well. They make one side sticky for lazy people.

U had me up to the part when u rinsed it down the drain. That will harden back up. And clog ur pipes. Never do that. Better to scrap into the trash
