Immigration! Shut the doors. We ARE FULL! Back in 2002, Peter Costello released the first Intergenerational Report, created by Treasury and released with the Budget. This document highlighted the problem that Australia was facing with an Aging Population. Too many people gave up smoking and were living longer. While the problem was very much real, we don't want negative population growth like Japan has been suffering through, this report and subsequent versions has been used to increasingly justify an increased migration program. To gauge how out of control the migration program is, you only need to look at the reports projections which looked forward 40 years from 2002 to 2042. In 2002 Australia had a population of 19.5 million and to achieve the required 30% increase. we would need net migration of 90,000 people per year and expect to have 25.35 million by the year 2042. Currently our population sits at 27.2 million, some 18 years early. That's a fucking disaster for a number of reasons, comment below for why excess population growth is screwing the economy. One of the biggest issues is that the Federal Government who controls immigration, is not responsible for housing, schools, hospitals, roads or policing. All of these services are provided by State Governments who happily used the Intergenerational Report to plan their government expenditure on public goods, while successive governments and this current one in particular has created a crisis for the entire country. According to the Intergenerational Report, we needed Net Migration of 0.5% of the Australian population. For the past 20 years, it's been 1.0% which is why we hit the 40 year target in 20 years and this year, we are sitting at 2.87% and we are only in April. We need to severely curtail the immigration program, immediately! Tomorrow I will outline easy to implement suggestions to make the immigration program sustainable into the future....
