Executed on Murad Ill's orders, buried with his father. - Şehzade Abdullah: Son of Selim and a concubine. He was buried in Süleyman l's Mausoleum. Leslie Peirce doesn't mention a Prince Ali in her book, though, maybe he died soon after his birth? And his mother as well? Totally posisble since she doesn't figure as a recipient of a stipend. - Şehzade Osman and Cihangir. Sons of Selim. Executed on Murad Ill's orders, buried with their father. Andrea Badoaro, ambassador for the confirmation of peace between Venice and the Ottoman Empire, says that, in 1573, Selim had three sons who were born in the same week: Süleyman, Abdullah and Mehmed. Little Mehmed was only 2 and, since we know that he predeceased his father, he probably died soon after this dispatch. Since Osman and Cihangir are not mentioned, it is possible that they were infants when they were executed on Murad Ill's orders. Selim II’s consorts: - Mother of Şah Sultan: nothing known about her - Nurbanu Sultan (1525-1583): Haseki Sultan and later wife of Selim II. Mother of Gevherhan Sultan, Ismihan Sultan, Murad III and Mahmud Bey (adopted child) - Mother of Fatma Sultan (?-after 1580) Her daughter was born around 1558/1559, after Nurbanu left Selim's harem to follow Murad to his provincial post, so Nurbanu is definitely not her mother. It's possible that Fatma's mother became the mother of a prince as well. When Selim died she moved to the Old Palace as the late sultan's concubine. When Fatma died she left part of her money to her mother (who survived her based on this document) - Mother of Mehmed: nothing known about her. - Mother of Süleyman (?-1574) allegedly committed suicide when her son was executed on Murad Ill's orders. - Mother of Abdullah: nothing known about her, possibly the son of Fatma's mother? We don’t know? - Mother of Ali: maybe died with her son, since she doesn't figure as a recipient of a stipend. - Mothers of Osman and Cihangir: Died before 1574 as they don't figure in a register from the final days of Selim's reign.
