Life changes, our bodies change, and so much that changes is beyond our control. Taking control of what you CAN today will accumulate benefits that you’ll be rewarded with for years to come…. 1️⃣ Workouts that challenge us and that we can be consistent with. 💪 If you can’t stick to a specific plan, consider trying something with a timeframe and schedule that would actually fit your needs. It’s not “all or nothing.” It’s all or SOMETHING. Home workouts can be effective. Gym workouts can be effective. Different time frames are all great. The key is to CHALLENGE yourself during your training session to stimulate the body to adapt and respond, and get stronger. 2️⃣ All the best workouts won’t add up to “results” at any age without a baseline of nutrients that support the energy you need, and the building blocks to repair and strengthen you after a workout. Over 40 we need a little more protein than we used to for the same amount of jobs, because we don’t absorb it as readily. Prioritize fiber rich whole food carb and fat sources for support to the gut, blood sugar and satisfaction. 3️⃣ Avoid long periods of sitting, especially after meals. Walk or move or stand more frequently to support better blood sugar balance, better circulation, and overall fat loss. 4️⃣ Make stretching and mobility work a non-negotiable. Great to do around training and on recovery days. We lose collagen and elastin and flexibility can decline along with that- but not if you regularly practice! 5️⃣ Take recovery days! The lower our hormone levels (peri and post menopause) the longer it takes to clear the inflammatory response created by a workout - potentially pushing a “healthy stress” into the realm of “too much stress.” Which we have less reserves to handle with lower hormone levels too. Focus on a balance of training to recovery that supports you better, so you can get strong, stay strong and avoid injuries. Put it on repeat! 💪❤️ #fitover40 #menopause #menopausefitness #perimenopause #motivation
