Spray foam is for short lasting houses perfect - not for old houses though. Contractors will likely suggest what they are used to and what’s easy.

Have you looked into heat pumps for HVAC? Electric, clean, and incredibly efficient. Shouldn’t be too much more expensive than conventional heat (1/)

Closed cell or open cell? Spray foam can create issues with the dew point in the wall. Check in with local architect 4 insulation recommendation 😊

Have a home that’s over a 100 years old now. We also did spray foam but used felt paper on the exterior siding first, then spray foam.

I would reconsider using spray foam. Get regular insulation, it will keep your house alot warmer and last a long time.

rock wool insulation wont get damaged or mold if wet, better insulation then fiberglass

I had closed cell foam sprayed in my 1850 farmhouse but we removed the exterior siding to do it. Very happy with it, closed cell is more expensive.

I’ve heard that spray foam causes condensation because it’s not breathable. I’m from the uk and I had my insulation replaced and they used polystyrene beads.

with price and the green movement,I would suggest electric baseboards for heat and solar panels. I plan on doing it with my motorhome. off grid
