They use this method in Mexico and Central America too. I’ve ate a soup cooked with hot stone. It was very good.

a Fulacht fiadh worked similarly. it was used in Ireland way back in the day. hot rocks were used to boil water and meat was boiled in it 🇮🇪😄😜
