when I asked the driver about this, the Uber driver said they weren't benefiting from this and at one point uber was actually paying less

As an Uber driver, they have the money to not force customers to foot the bill for our gas. Most if the time we get less than half of the total fare

I used to drive for Uber but they started taking way too much of the payment now. You used to get more than 60% now you get less than 50% of the trip
