Huh, that's pretty neat. I think you're right, resistance is similar. I'd bet that Cotter pin reads close to 2 ohms.

It will be the Bag, the first code said circuit open, when you unplugged it computer gets random voltage readings

Bet it’s not the airbag there’s resistance in the harness you just proved the airbag isn’t the issue the computer is looking for a resistance

that's how it was on my ranger I was cleaning and airbag cover was loose so I opened it and was no airbag there someone put a connector on like that

That means there is resistance somewhere else in series with that circuit. By shorting at the bag, you've lowered total resistance. Check fuse block
